Digital intellectual property guidelines

Best Practice

These guidelines apply to:

Externally created content such as

  • Conference materials
  • Books and e-books
  • Training materials
  • Audio-Visual media
  • Presentations and other documents.

Internally created content such as

  • Online courses
  • Learning videos
  • Audio files
  • Presentations and other documents
  • Infographics and visuals.

Externally created content

You are encouraged to share the learning materials that are:

  • relevant for eu-LISA and its activities,
  • prepared for training courses taking place in eu-LISA,
  • prepared by EU for publication,
  • publicly available online,
  • in Public Domain or have Creative Commons license.

If you are sharing materials from a conference, describe where and when the event took place. You don’t need to ask the permission to share the materials if it’s not practical to do so (for example the materials are shared to all participants from the organizers).

If you receive learning materials from a presenter directly, if possible, ask for permission before sharing the materials. Good chances are the presenter is happy you share the slides but its good practice to let them know, if you intend to do this.

If you are taking a private course not arranged in eu-LISA premises, ask for permission to share materials. Courses organised by private companies may be very protective about their materials and the materials may be intended for participants only.

Use your common sense when sharing. We love to encourage an open learning culture inside the organisation and encourage staff members to learn from each other, but be aware of what you share and respect any security/distribution markings on the documentation.

Internally created content

You are free to share the internally created learning materials in iLearn and through other internal channels. The internal learning materials are created by eu-LISA staff members for eu-LISA staff members and made for learning purposes inside the organisation. We encourage you to share the knowledge with your peers.

All learning content created in-house cannot be shared externally unless they're meant for external publication (check the security markings). The materials in iLearn are usually meant for internal learning only and cannot be shared publicly as they may include sensitive content about the people and processes in eu-LISA. Please respect this and be aware of what you share.
